Catapult, Brazilian Folklore, Sleep Paralysis, and Hurricanes…
Hello from the other side of my first semester of grad school! I’m a little tired and a lot thrilled after the past four months, and so I hope you’ll excuse the decreased frequency of these letters.
I’m thrilled to share that I have a piece up on Catapult today. It was accepted and edited by the incredible Leah Johnson… working with Leah was a dream in and of itself, as her books are whip-smart and gorgeously crafted. It’s no surprise her editing is the same.
If you read the monthly paid version of these emails, you’ll recognize parts of this piece as I wrote the very first draft for the September subscriber edition of this newsletter. It’s grown and changed since then, but it’s the most important thing I’ve written to date and I hope one day you’ll see it in a book of essays. Until then, I’d love it if you’d give it a read on Catapult.
Stay warm and well,
Anni
